Salman Partners provides equity research to major institutions in Canada, the United States and Europe. The firm focuses its research efforts in sectors where it has particularly strong knowledge: the mining, transportation, oil & gas, utilities, forest products, consumer products, and biotechnology sectors.

Salman Partners is a research-intensive firm that is unique to the street: almost half of its 30 employees are dedicated to producing in-depth research. Its talented and experienced professionals follow their sectors closely and choose to cover companies they feel have the highest investment opportunities. Before initiating coverage of a company, Salman Partners meets with the company’s management, in order to gain a solid understanding of the company’s strategy and philosophy. The firm takes an in-depth, "bottom-up" approach; that is, analysts look at a company starting at its components, independent of macroeconomic factors.

Instead of trying to cover every company in a sector, Salman Partners covers select companies exceptionally well. Its research analysts currently cover around 60 companies, with plans to expand coverage to over 70 companies by year end. Research analysts publish four to six research reports a year on each company covered as well as other publications including the daily Metals Morning Note and the Energy Levels Morning Note, the weekly Biotech Blast, and the quarterly Top Picks reports. Salman Partners’ research has been praised extensively by the financial media and by its clients. The firm's investment analysts are often quoted in the media.
